Timecards from memory aren't timecards. They're guesses.
Punchless writes the record from GPS while the work happens - exact times, no rounding, every later edit traced to whoever made it. So when a paycheck gets questioned, you aren't reconstructing the week from memory. You're showing what happened.
No credit card required. 30 days free, then from $29/user/month.

01How GPS tracking actually works
Triggered by a boundary, not by a clock.
Punchless tracks four states: at shop, in transit, on site, and unknown stop. Geofence crossings at your shop and job sites trigger the state transitions - the events that build the timecard.
GPS is active during shift hours. Managers can see live crew locations on the map. Drive time is logged as in-transit, time at a job site is on-site. Both end up in the draft timecard - without anyone touching the app.
02The case for switching
Punchless vs. Manual timecards.
On our own model, manual timecards cost a field service company around 5% of payroll in overpayments, disputes, and admin time. The full calculation is published, and you can change every input. Here's why it keeps happening.

Crew size, average wage, minutes over-reported per day. The calculator shows what guessed timecards cost your company per year, and what Punchless would save. Every assumption is on the page, so you can disagree with ours and use yours instead.
Who you are buying from
No logo wall. Just my name on it.
Punchless is new. We do not have thousands of logos to show you, and we are not going to borrow anyone else's. What you get instead is the person who wrote it: I answer the support email, I take the setup calls, and if the product cannot do something I will tell you on the call instead of after the invoice.

The 30-day promise
Run one crew for one pay period. If Punchless has not cut the time you spend chasing and correcting timecards, email me and I will export your data in a format your next tool can read, and help you move it. No retention call, no cancellation form.

We publish the math
The savings calculator shows every assumption and lets you overwrite all of them. Our default of 22 minutes a day is deliberately below the figures the industry quotes, because we cannot trace where those came from.
Run your own numbers →We say where rivals win
Timeero does automatic clock-in for roughly a third of our price. busybusy has a genuinely free tier. Both are on our comparison pages, in writing, because you will find out anyway.
Read the comparisons →We tell your crew first
There is a page written for technicians, not for you: what gets recorded, what never does, and how to pause it. Send it to your team before you enrol them.
See what your crew sees →03The engine
Built from what happened, not from what anyone remembers.
GPS does the remembering
Every movement, stop, transit, and job arrival is captured automatically while your crew works. The engine cross-references that data with geofences, scheduled jobs, and work-order history to draft a review-ready timecard by end of shift.
No punch-ins. No end-of-day forms. No calls asking what time someone left a job. The system builds the record; your team confirms it.
The part that matters comes later. Because the entries were written while the work was happening, and because every edit afterwards keeps the original alongside it, the hours you approve are ones you can still account for months from now - to an employee, to your accountant, or to whoever is asking.

06FAQ
Questions your team will ask.
Especially the ones about being tracked.
Does Punchless track employees all day long?
Only during shift hours. When a technician starts their shift, GPS tracking activates and their location becomes visible to their manager on the live crew map. When the shift ends or the app closes, tracking stops completely. Nothing is collected on personal time, evenings, or weekends.
What about personal time and lunch breaks?
Punchless is only active during shift hours. During a shift, a technician's location is visible to their manager - that is how the live crew map works. If a technician needs privacy during the workday, the one-tap Pause button stops all tracking until they resume. When the shift ends, tracking stops entirely.
Can employees see their own location data?
Yes. Technicians can review their own timecard entries and the GPS events that generated them directly in the mobile app. There are no hidden records.
What if the GPS clock-in time is wrong?
Managers can edit any GPS-generated timecard before approval. The GPS record is always a draft - human review is the final step. When a manager changes an entry, Punchless keeps what it said before, what it says now, who changed it and why, so the edit is part of the record rather than a replacement for it.
Is GPS tracking of employees legal?
In most U.S. states, yes - with proper written disclosure to employees before enrollment. Our Terms of Service require administrators to obtain any consent required by their local employment law. We recommend a written GPS policy in your employee handbook. We are not a law firm and this is not legal advice.
Will background GPS drain the phone battery?
Less than continuous tracking, because the app does not poll continuously. It runs the phone's background location service at balanced accuracy and asks for a sample at most once a minute, and only after the phone has moved about 30 metres - so a technician parked at a job site stops reporting until they move again. We do not publish a battery percentage, because we have not measured one across enough devices and shift lengths to stand behind it. Run a single crew for a week during the trial and measure it on your own phones rather than taking any vendor's number, including ours.
What happens to GPS data when an employee leaves the company?
GPS location data is retained for 12 months then permanently deleted. Approved timecard records are kept for 7 years for payroll compliance. When an employee is removed from your account, their data remains associated with your company account, not their personal profile.
