Colorado meal break rules for field crews

Colorado sets its own daily overtime threshold and meal rule through the COMPS Order, which is reissued periodically - check the current year's number before relying on it.

What the law requires

An uninterrupted, duty-free 30-minute meal period for shifts in excess of 5 consecutive hours.

Colorado COMPS Order, Rule 5.1Read the primary source

What it means on a crew

Exclusive, like California - "in excess of" 5 hours, so exactly 5.0 owes nothing.

What Punchless does

The threshold is applied exclusively and asserted by test at the boundary.

Every rule we enforce is published with the statute behind it and the test that checks it, so this is a claim you can verify rather than take on faith.

Other Colorado rules

Verified against primary sources on August 3, 2026. Statutes and wage orders change, and some of this is genuinely unsettled - re-check the source before relying on it. Punchless is not a law firm and this is not legal advice.
